I think it's kind of humorous (you know, in that way that things that aren't funny are) that economic ruin is an actual threat from the Israelis. Palestine is already in economic ruin. It would be difficult to reduce a people to more abject poverty than they already face, but the Israeli government will surely find a way, eh?
